Creative Ways to Hide a Litter Box

We have an indoor cat, and as much as I adore her, and can’t imagine life without her, but the litter box is an issue.  When she gets into it, she turns around a few times and digs to the bottom and sends the litter flying every which way, which was not as big a deal in the basement but things, have changed.

We recently downsized our home, and there simply was not the easy to hide places for the litter tray that there were in our other home.  We are in an apartment actually, and no matter how creative you get, there it is for everyone to see.  No basement to hide it in and no closet space to dedicate to her.

Large Cardboard Box

I created my own cover over the litter box with a large hole in a packing box and she used it, but I found it was pretty ugly.  You could decorate it as an option, but decided to check out other ideas online.

I couldn't believe it! Obviously this is a problem for other cat lovers like me, who don't want the toilet habits of the cat out on display.  There are some pretty creative litter box ideas!

Training Your Cat to Change Litter Boxes

Usually cats are so super curious and nosy, they will check out anything, but mine was a little less impressed with the idea.  I made sure she was watching me when I put it together.  I loved the planter one below!

I added a favorite treat at the entrance to the litter box, and I also lifted it up so she could see where the litter was.  At this point don't change the litter, keep everything else the same, and even the old cats will check out their new digs!

Homemade Outdoor Cat Shelter - For Those Free Spirited Kitties

I have 2 cats.  One is perfectly happy indoors 24/7 but the other one, we inherited as he just showed up at our back patio door one day and has adopted us!

He comes in the house, is litter trained, and neutered, but he still loves to go out at night no matter how hard we try otherwise.  It is either he goes out or none of the household sleeps!  But with our Ontario winters, it is super cold outside.

I found this awesome cat shelter that you can make yourself.  After a recent move we had those inexpensive foam coolers to move the refrigerator contents and now are simply sitting under the stairs.

Check out this video to see just how quickly you can make them.

It really doesn't take much to make these.

I am making the foam one, and just need to get straw from my local pet supply outlet.  Remember, NO pillows, blankets, newspaper or other bedding as the cat will make it wet and then it will freeze.  Straw wicks away moisture.

PUT A WEIGHT ONTOP

If like me, this will sit somewhere where the wind could take it away, especially the foam ones, find some bricks to keep it weighed down, or a more sheltered area.

YOU CAN ALSO GET PRE-MADE CAT SHELTERS ONLINE IF YOU PREFER BELOW:

These do look cuter, and do a wonderful job of keeping kitty out of the weather.  I also find by keeping the shelter close to the house, you will deter other critters.

I hope this gives you some inspiration to keep your "free spirited" kitty warm this winter.

Hide a Cat Litter Box - 5 Ways in Small Spaces to Live with a Cat

If you have downsized or simply have a small space by choice and also have an indoor cat or two, then sharing "facilities" can be difficult.

No one wants to see a used litter box especially first thing in the morning, so by hiding them, you not only give them privacy but you also stop the spread of litter and seeing it!

Using Cat Litter Box Furniture and Props Utilizes Space in the Best Possible Way!

1.  Bench

This bench can be used anywhere in the house, at the foyer, the entrance, the bathroom or even a bedroom.  It can be used to sit on and put your shoes on or whatever you want and the cat goes in the end.

2.  End Table

This end table simply fits in with the living room decor and your cat can still have privacy.  This counts as useful and a good use of space.

3.  Plant Pot

Add some whimsy and a green faux plant to your decor with a cat litter box in the pot base.  I thought this was a cute way to hide one especially in a small living room.

This is a lovely piece of furniture but it is totally equipped to house all of kitty's needs.  The litter box is in the bottom and when you open the cabinet doors there is a drawer that can hold all of the cat food and supplies.

You could feed your kitty on top of this furniture or use it as part of your house decor.

5.  Kitty Passage

If you don't like the idea of cat litter box furniture, then another option is to utilize a closet.  Add a kitty passage to the door so that your cat can come and go as he pleases without having to leave the door open.

This would also double as a way to eat his/her food without disruptions from a dog or other pets.  Many cats like to eat in private too.

This is an awesome way to have your indoor cat, and make both of you happy.  I love my 3 cats, but the only space right now I can place a box is in the hallway and I get to see it first thing in the morning, or stand in the gritty litter that has gone flying around.

So, I have been researching the above options, and I personally like the plant pot as I don't have much room for end tables or benches.  I also love the kitty passage as a way to feed them in a utility closet so that the dog doesn't eat their food!

Yes I have a zoo in my small space, so you have to get creative when it comes to living together in harmony!

Cat food or litter is not good for dogs, so hiding it stops the constant monitoring and is better for the health of your cats and dogs.

Cats Love Privacy

Most cats do not like to do their business in heavy traffic areas, but sometimes there is no choice other then in the middle of the kitchen or living areas, or even worse, the bathroom.  So investing or building your own cat furniture to hide the litter box just creates calm in the household!

Five Best Cat Shelves for Apartment Renters

If you rent an apartment and have cats, it can be an issue when it comes to exercise and shelves that don't take up space and don't cause any damage.

I have found five super cool ways to make kitty happy without using too much space or any DIY damage.

1.  Over the Door Kitty Condo

This will use the vertical door space instead of the floor.  Perfect for small spaces and apartments where you don't want to cause any damage, but at the same time make kitty happy!

2.  Window Shelves

3.  Cat Hammock Window Perch

When you are renting an apartment or a house and space is limited and you are not to do any DIY or cause damage or holes, it can be hard to give your cat his climbing things.

Many of the stand alone cat trees are fine but they take up a lot of floor space and if you are sharing a small space with one or more cats, you have to get creative.

Using the face of the doors or the windows or a spring loaded one that reaches from the floor to the ceiling is likely your best way to cure the urge to climb.

Indoor Cats Need to Climb

Most cats have an urge to climb, stretch and pick with their nails, so you need to give them something otherwise your curtains and your couch will become substitutes.

Indoor cats need exercise and play time and love to nap above everyone, so giving them their own window shelf or a cubby over the door is an awesome idea.  This also uses the vertical space that won't get in your way.

The Window Perches use super strong suction cups and some can hold up to 80 pounds.  These are an awesome way for kitty to watch things outside.  They are easy to remove when you move and you will only have to clean up a smudge.

Best Cat Climbing Wall - Top 5 Ways To a Happy Cat

Cats Love to Climb by Instinct - These Products Will Help to Save Your Furniture and Floor Space!

Top 5 by Reviews

1.  Over the Door Cat Climber
2Lotus Leaf Cat Shelf
3Cat Wall Shelves (Pack of 3)
4Canopy Shelves
5Multi Level Hammock and Climbing

1.  Over the Door Climber - This is an awesome use of space.  If your space is small or you don't want to damage any walls, then consider using doorways.  Easily moved from door to door with a spring loaded bracket system.  An affordable option for any cat owner.

2.  These lotus leaf shaped shelves not only attract your cats to that natural "snoozing" position but also look artistic on the wall.  When you cats are not on the berber lined shelves they look like pieces of art in the room.  Make of a combination of solid wood and bent plywood.

3.  Free Floating Cat Wall Shelves simply attach to the wall with included anchors and screws.  This will cure your cats instinct for climbing and they can also laze comfortably on the shelves.  These shelves are breathable cloth based and can support up to 22 pounds.

4.  These Canopy Shelves are super cute as they can climb and then peak out from behind realistic looking greenery. These shelves looked good and will bring in a sense of the outdoors.  These are especially a nice hiding spot for indoor cats that love to climb and hide.

5.  Multi-level Hammock and climbing center is the ultimate in a cat climbing wall.  This will take up an entire wall but if you have more than one cat, this could be more entertaining than watching TV.  This one is a bit more of an investment but the reviews have been totally positive.

This is the perfect play structure especially for kittens or young cats that get themselves in trouble by picking your furniture or carpet while you are away at work.  This will keep them busy.  I think of this as a living wall.

Best Cat Climbing Walls Especially for Small Spaces

Sometimes there simply is not the room for the typical cat tree, by utilizing the wall space, you can create lots of resting and playing areas for your cat and cure their need to be higher than anyone in the room.

So, if you had given up on the idea of a climbing tree or cat condo because they were not the best looking or took up too much space, then consider your wall area or even a door to give them lots of exercise and play time, especially if your cat is indoors all the time.

Once you give your cat or cats a place to play and climb, they become young at heart again.  This tend to tear up your carpets and furniture because they are bored.  Toys are fun too, but giving them something to do, like jump from shelf to shelf and then take a nap gives them the feeling of being outdoors.

Old Cat Peeing Outside Litter Box - What to Do?

My cat Muffin is almost 14 years old.

She is a beautiful lovable cat but as like most kitties, has a mind of her own that has worsened as she aged.

Just recently she decided that peeing outside the litter box was acceptable, which of course it was not to me!

Not sure what got into her head at that moment, but think it was simply laziness on her part in the end, but it quickly became a bad habit.

She Just Stared at Me and Peed!

I figured this was going to be a battle of wits.  I looked at the obvious things, such as ..

Did I change the litter brand? - NO
Did I clean it out often enough? - YES

So what has changed?

I Thought maybe the box sides were too high now as she walks a bit stiffly with age, so I replaced the litter box with one with lower sides, but that changed nothing.  Until I made one big discovery!!

Change Out the Newspapers or Floor Protection!

I always kept layers of newspaper under the box as I have 2 other messy cats.  I guess Muffin decided on one of her lazy days... that the newspapers were just as good as litter and would pee on them and then shred them up with her claws as if burying her business and walk away.

So, it wasn't that she was too stiff and arthritic to get in, she just got lazy!

I got tired of the drippy newspapers full of cat pee, and washing the floor around it.

Puppy Pee Pads to the Rescue!

As an senior cat, she tends to pee a lot and I was getting tired of stockpiling newspapers, and decided this situation wasn't on.

So I got rid of the papers, kept the original kitty litter box, and placed it on a puppy pee pad.

Hoping this strategy wouldn't send her into other rooms as a protest, I watched from afar to see what she would do when she came across this new layer of material.

She sniffed it, then made the effort to climb in the box!

So far, she only had an accident on this pad, and that was 6 days after I put it there.  Even this accident was only because her bum was not totally inside.

She couldn't shred this material like she could with the newspapers, so decided that she had better make the effort and get in.

So for anyone else out there with a senior cat that still has some life left in them, don't let them get control of this situation!

Take a close look at the way they use it and if you have not changed anything, and they go beside the box, then try the puppy pads.  AT least this way you are not cleaning wet floors all the time.  Even if they keep going on these pads, they are much easier containment as they are designed to hold a lot of pee.

They are not thick, but I am amazed at just how much they can hold as they are designed for dogs.

Compromising with my Cat

When they do pee on this material it totally contains it.  So for me this was a compromise.

I thought I would simply have to invest in these for the remainder of her life, but was surprised to find out she could still use the box, just found the papers easier.

One for Me!

So this was one battle I seemed to have won... for now.

If you use a litter mat or something under the box and your cat is peeing and pooing on this instead of climbing in, then at least by using puppy pads you can keep the area clean.

But with my cat, Muffin, it seemed to cure the situation that had been going on for months.  Some of the pee had actually migrated under the baseboard and now that needs replacing, so this was not looking good for my old cat.

These puppy pads totally limit any damage the cat pee does when you are not there and they decide to go on the floor beside it.  I found them online for a good price.  I found I didn't need the big ones,  just enough to cover the floor area on the side she was using.

How to Build a Feral Cat Shelter the DIY Way

If you have feral cats or simply outdoor cats, they will need shelter this winter to keep out the wind, the damp and the snow.  Check out this video to make your own Feral Cat Shelter:

✅What You will Need:

1.  A large plastic tote container
2.  Styrofoam cooler or Styrofoam Sheets
3.  Bedding Straw

All of these things can be purchased in local discount stores and pet shops but you can also get them online as sometimes the Styrofoam coolers are hard to find off season.

There are many different sizes online.  You can cut to fit or you could also use Styrofoam sheets and cut to fit the sides of the tote.

Follow the Video and create that perfect outdoor home for your feline friends.

My Feral Cat Story

I had a feral cat come to my yard a couple of years ago.  He would not come anywhere near us but you could see he was starving as he was raiding the bird feeder.

We began to work with him and created a feeding shelter by leaning a wheel barrow against the wall and moved it closer and closer to the house.  This was working great until winter arrived.  In Ontario, Canada the winters are cold and I created a shelter for him using this type of method in the video.

I took it one step further and placed it in the shed where he had been going.  Try to place this homemade feral cat house somewhere sheltered if you can so that snow doesn't blow inside of it.

The Straw Keeps Away Moisture

I received advice from an agency who dealt with feral cats, and they said never to use a towel as bedding as it will freeze when a wet cat enters.  The straw bedding wicks away moisture.

If you Prefer, you can Also Purchase Ready to Go Feral Cat Shelters online.  I couldn't find any in my local pet shop but found many online.

You can add straw to this insulated house for comfort and to wick away moisture.

Winters are harsh for feral and outdoor cats.  If they are scared of human contact, they will try and shelter anywhere they can and that might be your car engine, your roof, under your porch or in your garage or shed.

By creating a outdoor home for them you are giving them some comfort.

Check with Your Local Humane Society for Help with Feral Cats...

They might be able to give you information or direct you to the proper organization that have programs in place to catch and spay/neuter cats.

We are super happy with our new friend.

It took exactly one full year to become tame and our former "feral cat" MOO now quite happily lives inside with us.  Eats from a proper cat bowl and snuggles while we watch TV.

Once he was tame enough to come indoors, we took him to the Veterinarian to be neutered.  Within a month of that process, he became less twitchy and happy to stay inside.

We still keep the outdoor shelter available as sometimes he still prefers to go outside and this way he has a warm place to go.

Cat Tent DIY - How to Make a Cat Tent out of an Old T-Shirt

I thought this was the coolest and cheapest DIY for cats yet.  You know how cats love to hide under couches, and in closets and simply have their own cave?

Well at least mine does.  I thought it would be nice to make a cat tent on the cheap.  They are expensive in pet shops, so why not make your own?

What you Will Need:

wire cutters (to cut hangers)
Piece of cardboard
2 x wire hangers
old tee shirt
safety pin
masking tape
cat bed or soft towels

Check out the video for instructions:

Perfect Way to Up-cycle an old T-Shirt

This is a cool project for cats as well as smaller dogs that love to have a cave of their own.  You will find them napping in it in no time.

Who Knew that cardboard, an old t-shirt and some wire hangers could create a napping place and hiding place for your cat?

If this project has got you excited to try something a little different and you don't mind purchasing a few extra supplies such as wood dowels and fabric, then check out the project below on how to make a pet tee pee.

DIY Pet Tent

There is a little bit more to this project, but it is actually cuter than the t-shirt tent I think.  If you want to have these little tents out front and center, such as your living room, you could create them out of complimentary fabrics.

As you can see in the video above the creator has gone all out to create cool decorative yet useful pet tents as these can be used for small dogs too.

The t-shirt as a smaller opening, and many cats love the idea of that.  So you have a couple of choices before you run out and purchase one.  Save some money and make your own!

Save Money and Make Your Own Cat Tent or DIY Pet Tent

Hopefully this post has inspired you to get a bit creative and save money.

Pet supplies are expensive enough, so it is nice if you can make them something with things around your house such as the first project.

Kids can help with this project too.

Once the cat tent in the first project gets dirty or well used, it can be stripped down and washed and put back together again or change out the t-shirt.  There are tons of ways you could decorate it too with fabric paints or markers.

It won't take long for your cat to find it, they simply cannot help themselves out of curiosity!

Kitty Ball Cat Bed - Cutest Wicker Cat Dome - Raised Cat Bed Makes Kitty Happy

I have 3 cats, and am an admitted "cat lady".  But if there is one thing I have noticed, it is just how much a cat loves to lord over the room.

They are not a fan of sitting on the floor unless playing, and will find the highest part of the sofa to sleep.

I decided it was time to get them a raised cat bed, when I came across this really cool and quite popular kitty ball bed.

It is made from rattan but to me it is much the same as wicker.  It is claw resistant and the pillow for their sleeping comfort or just sitting and hanging out can be thrown in the washer (bonus for me, not a fan of taking slip covers off pillows).

It comes in two different colors... smoke or espresso.  These are not only really cute kitty ball beds but they can also fit in with your room decor.   I have not seen these in pet stores, only online but they are very popular.. there were already 205 positive reviews at the time of this writing.

I was hiding the pet beds in corners or other rooms on the floor, but it actually makes sense to make them a part of the room.  I can just imagine 3 of these lined up in the room.  If you have 2 snugly cats they may just curl up together.  I absolutely love the look of one of these.

The height is just right for giving them the "view" of the room with no worries about behind them as it is like a cave for them.

Cats Love to be in the Same Room as You!

If there is one thing I have learned about cats over the years, is that they for the most part love to migrate into the same room as you.  If I am watching TV or reading a book, they start to show up.  It is like they need to know where the hand that feeds them is at all times!

Give Them a Raised Cat Bed Such as this Kitty Ball Bed with a Back

Since my cats lay all over my couch especially in the corners where it feels like all sides are covered and they only have to worry about what is in front of them, they will love this.   As you can see my cat Muffin straddles the back of the couch, but the other 2 hide under it or are always climbing.

This will definitely make my cat feel "Uptown" Why not include the pet beds when you are setting up your main living area?

It is nice that designers are finally coming up with awesome looking pet beds that can fit in a room and not be an eye sore.

Let Kitty Lounge In Style on the Porch or Patio!

With the nice weather upon us, this raised wicker cat bed known as a kitty ball bed will work perfectly on the patio or porch with the outdoor furniture.

If you have a house cat, but you also have an enclosed porch you could sit one out there for when you are out there.  Or place on of these in a kitty tent for lounging off the ground.

There are so many awesome and affordable ways to make your cat or cats safe and happy. Give them a secure place to hang out and an off the ground snuggly cat dome and they are set for the day, especially older cats like mine.

Shopping Online for Pet Supplies

I have found many of my favorite stores have a presence online, which is great, but also many of the bricks and mortar stores have decided it is not worthwhile stocking less expensive or small items on their shelf and will refer you to online.  I totally noticed this with BEST BUY the other day... but I
digress.

I have found that online especially with AMAZON to be one of the fastest and easiest ways to order.  Returns are super easy if there is a problem or you don't like it, and they just have so much variety that you can spend all day on the computer and still there would be more!

Anyone who reads my blog, knows that my goal is to live my every day life in the best possible way and the most affordable.  I went into a pet shop and something similar to this kitty ball cat bed was 3 times the price, so if you are looking for value, I would suggest starting with AMAZON especially for pet supplies.

RVing with Cats - Traveling with Cats in an RV - Taking Cats Camping

It can get very expensive to board your cat while you are off camping or RVing, but they are not as easy to control as say a dog when it comes to traveling.

But after much research I discovered different ways in which you can take your Cat  or cats camping especially in an RV.

Years ago, we took our cats camping, but there were not the products on the market to make this easy.  We couldn't afford to board them, and we were camping for our vacation to save money.  I simply leashed my cats and had them on a tie out, which did draw many looks.  It worked but was not the best idea.

But fast forward a few decades and check out the many ways you can go RVing with your cat or cats.

Portable Cat Enclosure - These little tents will store away quickly when not in use.

These cute little cat enclosure tents can be set up quickly at your camp site, and you could also if ambitious enough, purchase the tunnel that attaches to this tent and create a way to let your cats in and out of the RV without you even having to get up! Check out this video for ideas on retrofitting this cat tent.

I love how they attached it to the screen door.  Cat can come and go.  This is cool idea too.

This carrier gives your cat a bit more wiggle room, and keeps them safe in the RV or trailer while you are moving.  It can hold a litter box and a bed for them to stretch out on.

Almost like a playpen for cats.  I could have used this when we went RVing, instead our cats clung to anything they could while the vehicle was moving!  This will keep them safe, and could also be used as an outdoor enclosure too.

Portable Litter Box

These little little boxes fill and empty easily and can fold away when not in use, so you don't have to drag the big plastic one from home.

Cat Camping

The above 3 items, can really make your camping experience much easier to handle if you bring your cats.  You will get looks from other campers, but probably great looks, since so many people will bring their dogs, but not their cats.

Cat boarding and cat hotels can cost and also create stress.  Simply having someone we trusted coming to the house to feed them stressed them out as this was not the family.  My cats didn't eat and one wouldn't come inside.  So the idea of taking them with you is sounding good.

Cat Leash and Tie Out in a Pinch

We used this method years ago, but cats are notorious at being able to wiggle out of collars, so if you use this method to keep track of your kitty, then at least use a body brace style instead of relying on a collar.

I personally love the idea of the quick to put up tent as with the first item, simply because you can put your cats inside and no worries about tick bites or fleas or eating something they shouldn't and then you can simply relax and enjoy your camping vacation and so will they in the outdoor fresh air as you can see in the picture.

Pet Friendly Hotels
If you get rained out, or simply want a night in a hotel there are many pet friendly hotels, that only ask that you crate your pets in the room.  The above cat playpen would work for that, and it folds away when not in use.

I hope the above ideas have inspired you to try RVing with cats. If you plan for the above 3 things, a place to sleep and relax in the RV while moving or whenever you need to keep them contained, and a place to do their business that doesn't take up floor space, and a place to hang out in the great outdoors without worry of losing them.

Our pets love our company and it can be a fun experience to take them with you.  Make sure they are up to date on shots and have your pet records with you and enjoy RVing with cats!

Best Black Light for Cat Urine - Find It - Clean it - Get Rid of the Smell - Save the Carpet

As the owner of 3 cats (or should I say they own me!), accidents can happen.

✅If you walk into your house or a house you are considering buying, and all you can smell is that faint or strong whiff of cat pee or cat urine or any pet urine smell, then you need to haul out this Black Light.

This actually works for any pet stain including dogs. But what a wonderful way to quickly find the problem so you can deal with it.

It is affordable, for under 15 bucks you can shine this light on carpets and furniture to see any residual cat urine stain that your eyes are just not picking up.  This could be the number one cause of that residual smell in your home.  No amount of flowery air spray can cover it.

Cats Can Be Sneaky About Their Toilet Habits

I trained a feral kitty from when he showed up in our yard a couple years back.  It took as a long time to get him to come inside.  He quickly integrated with my two other cats, he went to the Veterinarian and was neutered and seemed to understand socializing.

But one thing we didn't notice right away was his lack of litter box usage.  He decided he didn't like the litter box, and found a small carpeted room in our basement to do his pee business.

It was only when we entered the house we could smell something cat like.

Once Cat Urine Dries It Doesn't Always Leave a Stain

If you shine black light for seeing cat urine around the area, you will quickly hone in on the problem spots.  This way you can then address them with the proper cleaning method.  I have another article on getting rid of pet stains that can help.

Once identified, you can get to work at dealing with it.  For whatever reasons our cat pee spots didn't leave a stain but did leave an odor.  Cat pee is horrible for odor, even more so than dogs.  This could save you hours of work trying to steam clean the entire carpet only to find the smell comes back again.

Best UV Light for Seeing Cat Urine and Other Pet Stains

With over 1500 reviews at the time of this writing, it has got to be one of the best tools you can have in your cat or pet supply kit.

Trying to find the source of pet urine or especially cat urine, which tends not to be as large but far stinkier is much easier if you have the right tools.

Once identified you can get to work cleaning them if possible.  There are so many enzyme type products on the market that will eat up that urine stain and smell.

Take to a Open House With You

I am not kidding!  How many houses have you been at an open house where pets do live there, but the air is just overfilled with lavender or flowery air spray to mask odors?

Take this black light and check out the carpets before you make your offer.  If there are loads of stains showing up, you can show the owner and ask for a lower price especially if the carpets are beyond cleaning and need replacing.

It isn't always obvious to the naked eye!  Wonderful tool to keep your cats and family living in harmony!

How a Cat Window Hammock Can Create Harmony in Your Home Without any DIY

Window Hammock

If you have cats, and especially if you have cats, dogs and kids, giving your cat a place to hang out and be... well a cat is usually by the window.

They love to look outside and keep tabs on the bird feeders and anything else going on in the outside world.  Actually our cat hisses even when the mailman comes, so I know we just got mail!

I came across these really cool hammocks that do not require any DIY, so if you are renting these will work, and they come with super strong suction cups.  Worst case scenario you have a suction mark to clean off when moving.

✅These cat window hammock will hold up to 50 pounds, so no worries about precious falling off the shelf!

If your cat prefers to be more enclosed, check out these really cool pods that stick to the window. I think these cat pods for the window are awesome!  Especially if you have a kitty that love to stay hidden and yet be that cat by the window.

If you have a few cats, then you can get a few of these.  They are under 40 bucks and attach via suction cups to the window.

Cat Window Perch

✅There are so many to choose from, but I also love this one.  This cat has his bed and everything on this shelf, what cat wouldn't love this?

Cats love to be high up. They like to be above the action. This way they can not only keep tabs on what is going on outside, but they can also be looking in on the room to keep tabs on the other pets in the house and perfect for when they want to be left alone and have a safe nap.

Window Mounted Kitty Bowls

You could also take this one step further and make this their feeding station.  This is an awesome way to keep the dogs out of the cat food.  Simply feed them at the window.

For about 10 bucks, you can attach their food bowl to the window.

Keep the Dogs out of the cat food.

We used to feed out cat in the closet so that the dog wouldn't take her food.  Well I have been thinking this is a good way to keep the dog away.  Make the cat window perch and the bowls high enough that the cat can jump to safety and eat safely without the dog getting any.

It was always a battle in my house as the dog loved the cat food but would end up puking because it is not good for dogs.  What an awesome idea!

How to Make Your Own Cat Window Perch

I try to find the best deals around and that is usually online especially with Amazon, but if you are handy and love DIY you can make your own cat window perch out of wood and other supplies as shown in the video below:

Cat By the Window

Cats are always intrigued by what is going on outside.  Giving them their very own cat seat is the perfect way to give them the eye candy they crave.  Yes it would be nice if we could just let them outside but there are so many dangers outside not to mention the fact they would scare away any birds.

So if you love to feed the birds and attract different birds to your yard, then give your cat a front and center seat so they can enjoy.

✅Check out this entire page of CAT WINDOW HAMMOCK or SHELF to get some great ideas.

If you want to take this a step further you could create a outdoor catio or outdoor cat window box that attaches to the outside of your window and you leave your window open and the cat comes a goes.. read more about that here..   HOW TO BUILD A CAT CATIO to find other ways to entertain your cat

What a super awesome way to use up some of that window space and save on floor and couch space!

How to Clean Yellowed Pillows

When changing my bedding, I started to notice the "yellowing" on my pillows when I took off the pillow cases. It turns out it is ...
