How to Make a Microwavable Heating Pad - DIY Heat Pack

After spending a lot of time hunched over a drawing table I realized just how stiff and sore my neck was.  I own a regular heating pad.... but that needs plugging in and is a pain and can get too hot.

Sooooo.... after some research I discovered just how to make your own Microwavable Heating Pad!!

Super Simple concept using dry rice or beans.  In this video she uses rice.

If you don't have a sewing machine, you could sew this by hand.  If you don't have rice, you can use dried beans.

Cute Homemade Gift Idea!

If you use some cute fabrics, this could make an awesome homemade gift for anyone on your list.  The best part about these bag heating pads, is that you don't need to be near an electrical outlet like to the older style.

You simply need a microwave, to heat it up and then place on the sore spots and relax anywhere you want.  Depending on your activity level you could have a few on the go!

You can also make these longer to fit around the back of your neck almost like a scarf.  Make a cup of tea and relax!

No worries about electrical wires.

Microwave Heating Pads

Of course the first step after you have made one, is to see how fast your machine will heat it up.  You don't want to burn yourself, so use smaller increments of time until it is the right temperature for you, and then you will know for next time.

If you are not a fan of DIY but love the idea of microwavable heating pads that can form to any shape on your body... you can also purchase them online.

A perfect way to relax after a long day, or after the gym.  You can also get them filled with gorgeous scents such as lavender flowers:

There are many options online if you don't like the DIY option.

Make Awesome Bed Warmers!

Remember the old heated water bottles to warm up the sheets?  Well microwave one of these and place in your cold bed a few minutes before climbing in to warm your toes!

They are a very versatile idea, whether you make your own or purchase one online.  They make great gifts and would be good to have on hand before the aches and pains get started!
