Three Must Have Camping Gadgets - In My Opinion of Course!
As a family we camped when
the kids were little, and in recent years we lived in an old RV and a tent on
the site of our new house being built for 6 months to save money. You do have to get creative sometimes with
your everyday living. We rented water
containers and an outhouse and a generator!
But one thing for sure you
need, is the basics to enjoy and survive camping whether for a weekend or for
months as we did. Now that I am older, I
wouldn’t mind getting back into some camping, and some backpacking for fun, but I want
a few more creature comforts, and as I researched, I discovered there are some
amazing affordable products online that can make that next camping trip or
backpacking trip awesome.
Enjoy the little things!
If you are a camper, you most
likely have the basics, such as the tent, sleeping bags and air mattress. But what can really enhance camping and make
packing a little lighter, are these 3 products below. I am talking about a water purifier, a small
solar charger, and a lightweight solar light.
As I look at my old
cumbersome flashlight with monster battery, no gps or electronics, and loads of
water jugs, I can almost see the trunk of my car having more space. These items have got smaller and better as
time goes by. Why not embrace some of
the new technology?
Embrace the New Technology for Camping and Enjoy!
If you plan on setting up
camp and doing some day hikes or backpacking, nothing is heavier than bottles
of water. My son used one of these
purifiers on his last backpacking trip and was impressed with the results.
1. Micron Water Purifier Pump
This is a 3 stage process
that removes 99.9% of bacteria. It is
tested in the USA for safety, and so you can take a water source such as river
or lake and create drinking water that is safe.
This can save on the weight of water bottles. At this writing there are 452 great reviews,
but you can check out the reviews yourself by clicking the link below. So if you are camping or backpacking near a
water source you can create safe drinking water.
2. Portable Solar Charger for Your Devices
You can simply attach this to
your backpack or somewhere where the sun can shine on this small device. It is enough to power your cell phone or ipad
or gps. I don’t think we should be too
connected when camping, but emergencies do happen, and it is good to be able to
use your electronics when needed to keep in touch or for directions or even as
a locater if needed.
It is weather friendly and
tough. It doesn’t take up much room
either. So why not have this extra piece
of insurance?
3. Solar LED Collapsible Lantern
I love how this lantern
basically compresses into a small disc.
This would take up little room compared to my monster flashlight with
the large battery! This is solar so as
long as it can catch some sun rays during the day you can have a quick lantern
for your tent or to light the way.
If you are backpacking, this
is lightweight. When backpacking every
ounce of weight needs to be something useful, you don’t want to fill your pack
with a heavy flashlight and such.
Solar Powered Camping
Equipment
Solar is a wonderful way to
keep your camping equipment charged. I
am loving the idea of many of these products.
Technology has made it so that your camping trip doesn’t require a
station wagon or a van just for your “creature comforts”. You can get portable camp kitchens that fold
completely flat (this is on my wish list, and I posted about it in another
post) and many other camping gadgets.
Must Have Camping Gadgets – Do Some Surfing
If you have not camped in a
while (like me!) then it is worth surfing online to see some of the latest
gadgets. Yes camping is supposed to be
simple, but no need to be uncomfortable.
You know what you are willing
to go without and also where you will draw the line in the sand when it comes
to comforts.
Imagine Yourself Camping and Hiking
Just imagine a day in your
camping holiday and what you feel would be an important piece of camping
equipment for you. It might be you like
to read at night so a better form of lighting compared to that old lantern or
flashlight, or maybe you do want to check an email or two, so the portable
charger would be an asset, or if you love to cook but want to be organized, the
portable camp kitchen.
There are so many ways to
enjoy nature now, embrace the technology and free yourself from the extra
weight of old equipment.
Figure out which camping
gadgets would enhance your trip and then have fun.
Enjoy!
